Re: Oil Synthetic or Not? Gas - What Octane? With or Without Ethanol?

On the subject of the oils, zinc and phosphorus were mainly taken out due to the fact that almost every engine built in the last 10 to 20 years are "roller" motors. they don't wear the same as a "flat tappet" engine. usually a "race" oil like the valvoline mentioned earlier will still have the additives. that would be due to the fact that a lot of race engines still are "flat" motors. As for the fuel, i don't know of any without the "e" junk. and my uncle tells me some of our old customers have advised him recently that it is eating up the old formula of gas tank sealers we used. he has done some research and found out that the suppliers are now reformulating to compensate for this. so if you are about to have you tank redone, make sure the correct type is used! Otherwise you'll have fuel lines plugged solid with the junk!

p.s. for those who did not know, Crane Cams has just gone out of business. about 2 years ago the got hit hard with warranty issues when the oils were changed. john q public not knowing about that cause massive amounts of "flat" cams to be destroyed on break-in!

HUMMM Interesting. i didn't tink 'bout the lowly 'ol little block chebby in that light. HEY Jack! if this will work like this, Then forged, hyper's or cast pistons could be used! and at a fraction of the cost of aftermarket pistos for packards! AND the little blocks should be a lot lighter! What you think?

ok Oz, you wanted more pics, i will post one for now! didn't have time to get very good pics this weekend. however if you look close you can see my 5687-pb and my 5662-l in the pic. and i also think my 52 200 sedan is peeking out next to the clipper. the 400 is in absolutely horrible shape. most packard guys wouldn't have brought it home for PARTS! But i did. then i got to looking it over close, and its a realy odd-ball car. so i'm gonna build her. thats what i do, find the absolute worst odd-ball piles of junks me can find and build 'em!

the bent arm will work alright. the airtex pump i put on the dragon was bent. i believe that the pump you are asking about will work just fine. the one i put on the dragon actualy extends a lil farther out away from the engine than normal. that being said, i would think the one you are asking about prob dose too.

OK ERIC, what is this crap about an Oreilly girl?!!! you say'n i'd know more if i was An Oreilly GIRL? An OREILLY GUY not good enough for ya? LOL.

p.s. the cost of the pumps have gone way up! it cost me $44!

I agree with you jack, the 261 is not easy to find. and i would prefer an aftermarket rod anyway. as for the broken rod issue, it did happen. i have had in my "fleet" at one time on another several cars that became parts cars due to it! i was merely stating that in production form the 261 was the closest that i had found. Will you be at the national? am looking forward to meeting eric, would like to meet you too!
