I used to have a 1949 Eight that had no trouble at highway speeds, so I hope for much the same with this car.

Sounds great, West. The 180 owners need to hang together. I'm getting it cleaned up for its first Georgia run (in the 90 - 100 degree heat) maybe for this weekend. Waiting on the oil pan gasket to arrive. It's not quite as spiffy as the photos make it look, but still pretty nice.

And didn't Canada have the third largest navy (above the ocean) at the end of the war?

For what it is worth: a former medical examiner of Georgia County informed me that seat belts alone were worse than no belts since the passenger and driver in the front would pivot on the belt and smash their faces into the dash or steering wheel.

He refused to wear a seat belt in my 1974 Chevrolet Caprice Convertible.

So, if you can add a shoulder belt, that's the way to go - unfortunately.

Napoleon was quoted as saying that the Italians never finished a war on the same side as they started - except once when they switched sides twice.

A good Sicilian friend swiftly responded that showed the superiority of Italian politicians: why go down in flames like the French and Germans?

Jim:

It is an 1807 five-passenger four-door touring sedan.

I'd like the book. Where can I get a copy?

Lots to think about in the responses. I have closed the deal on the car and expect it to be trucked to me something late this month. Once I have it in hand, I'll post it in the registry.

As far as driving goes, I did want to be able to do reasonable speeds when on the interstate. About 30 years ago I used to drive a 1949 Eight at reasonable interstate speeds as well as a 1941 Buick and 1950 Buick. Reasonable in my (alleged) mind being in the 60s or so.

I'll have more questions beyond a doubt. Thanks.

Hello. This is my first post on this forum. I am looking at a very nice driver 1807. It doesn't come with Econo-drive - just the three speed transmission. My questions to you learned folks:

(1) Are Econo-drives easily available?
(2) Can they be installed with relative ease?
(3) Are they worthwhile for a driver?

Thanks.
