Well that's what I was thinking, but the cradle has its own bolt that has cotter pin holes.

It sucks that I one of my cameras when I did this job. Fortunately I'm about done with the chassis so I ended up having photos for most.

One other item off the top of my head I may need some help with is the emergency brake cable pivot mount on the chassis. I'm sure they'll be others :)

Thanks!

Ordered some shim stock from McMaster, made some shims this weekend. All is good!

Thanks!

I rebuilt my rear end. Did the 3rd member bearings, seals, crush tube. I also did the axle bearings and seals. When putting on the backing plates, the axles are tighter than they used to be and I'm in need of shim plates.

Kanter and Merritt don't have them so if you folks don't have any I'll just buy some shim stock and make some.

Just out of curiosity, would an extra, or thicker, head gasket help?

Anyone have a torque spec for the steering crank pin?

I was kind of done for the day, but I wanted to better simulate the top out rubber. To do that I place a small chunk of 2x4 where the top out bushing would be. I now barely rub, and I mean barely. Did the other side with the same results.

I figure with the engine and body installed, I'll be good. I'll post a photo in a bit, as well as keep folks posted when I get a real load on the springs.

I indeed checked my tie rods... same height as old when installed.

John & Flack - thanks for posting!

yes, I did. All seems well. I just thought I discovered I put the bearings in the wrong spots, but pictures of the past show I'm good. I'll be embarrassed when I figure it out.
