Re: Safety Glass LOGO

1940-120
Hi guys

I just had all of my vent windows replaced with new safety glass, and yes they did have a LOF emblem on all of them interesting enough they are also dated.

My Packard is a1940-120.

If anybody has a great artwork for that logo I would appreciate a copy. I am looking for the setting material. I have seen it but cannot remember where, also I will probably need to check my previous request for that info. And also some advice from anybody having experience doing it.

I am also in need for the pins that fit into both of the chrome frames, the ones that have to be put in before the glass is set.

Right now I am prepping my running boards to send to Hunley Acuff.

Hope to start posting regularly on my blog.

Thank you everybody for the help on this great site.

Happy Father's Day

Thank you for the pictures. My boards are almost ready to go to Hunley. How did you ship them ? Would you be so kind as to email me with all of the details you went through to get them resurfaced.

Thank you

Somewhere on this site is a wiring diagram and also sizes and colors. I know it is in the Packard service letter listed as Vol 13. No 15 Dated August 1,1939. It is titled as a special edition called Service Information for the 1940 cars.

Fred D.

I Don't know how to link it or even find it because I am using my I pad. Big fingers small keys & no patience. With this thing.

Hope this helps.

By all means you should make time to stop in Frederick.

After the 2012 Frederick show I posted pictures of this fantastic event. I would suggest you back search and take a look at them.

It is a great time to be had by all in attendance. Even though last year it rained a bit. It was still a great event and the folks that set it up do a fabulous job. I know this year will be another great time.

Thank Fred D

Hello folks, if I may add, I have a 120, and have the same issue with the pivot pin being worn. I will dig out the photos of the 120 assy. and then make some comparisons. I do know that the brake and clutch pedals have different configurations. One has bushings and the other has bearings. I will also look into the 1940 parts book and see what it says.It says that the bracket, Clutch & Brake pedal shaft is 333449 for 1800-01=1A-3-3A-4-5-6-7-8-, with 4 ea 38-24x7/8 HH, with nuts & Lock washers. Also that the bearing, Clutch Pedal is # 232276, 2 ea. Can't find the brake info yet.

Thank you HH56.

I thought that there had to be a source along with personal knowledge on using it.

I will definitely look in to both suggested sources. I know I will be needing other products from steele in the near future.

Thanks again

Source for material for glass mounting

I am looking for a source for the material to set the vent window glass for my 1940 Packard. An old time glass setter said it could be cork. Anyone know what new material could be used ?

Also did the original safety glass have any distinctive etching annotating safety glass. My original has a small marking I will need to magnify just to see what it says.

Thanks Fred D

I don't have them handy at the present, if I remember correctly the left hand had a cut out for the steering and the right hand had the exhaust pass through. Those are on my list of items to locate and start to get repaired and restored, when I get them out I will post pictures of them also,
