1951 300 Engine in 200s

Packard offered the 327 cu. in. 300 engine as an option for the 200 and 200 Deluxe models. Was this engine also offered as an option in the 1952 200 and 200 Deluxe, and the 1953 Clipper? Thanks

cli55er, did you see the Four Hundred with the Caribbean side trim at Salado this year? While not authentic, it was an attractive car. I think many participants discounted it because it was not original. Still, it is a pretty car and the workmanship was first class. Take care ---

pollockauto, if you mean will a lower trunk floor pan from a 1938 Six Convertible Coupe fit a 1937 115C Convertible Coupe, I would think the answer would be no. The 1938 junior Sixes and Eights had a brand new all steel body in 1938. I doubt if any of the body parts would interchange. I have a 115C Convertible Coupe and I am available to help and answer any questions I can about the car. Good luck with your project, and don't be put off by the brief answers on your first visit. This is a great site with great "members" and there is a wealth of information here. The guy from Australia will, however, be unrelenting in trying to get your car on the registry. Most of us find it is easier to just give up and register the damn thing (just kidding, sort of).

Would the members who attend the Warren meet and take photos please post them in the Car Show Pictures section. This way we can all enjoy them throughout the year. Thanks and have a great time.

Mal, could you tell us more about the modern spin on oil filter? It looks like there is a housing attached to the frame. Is this a remotely located full flow type filter? I enjoy spending time with you and Wade in the workshop. Also, the photos of the museum tour looks like you are having comfortable winter weather. Must be something like Southern California. Thanks - John

Dave, the information on the 14mm 356 heads is interesting. I was under the impression that the reason Packard used the 10mm spark plugs was to give them more flexibility in locating the spark plugs. Of course, now days there is more heat range selection with the 14mm spark plugs.

Mal, thanks for sharing these photos with us. That is an interesting outside rear view mirror on Ed's 120C Sedan. Do you have any information on it?

Re: Vapor lock poll

Poll question answers:

1. No.

2. No.

Comments:

1. No electric fuel pumps.

2. We had a discussion on fuel pump insulation some time back. That is, many fuel pumps had an insulating gasket between the pump and block, insulating sleeves in the pump for the cap screws attaching it to the engine block, and insulating washers under the cap screws. Plus there are carburetor and fuel pump heat shields.

Edit: Neither of my Packards has the insulation parts.
