Re: Exhaust manifold identification

Home away from home

Phil Randolph
Thanks for the info- my car right now has a manual choke via a cable to the dash, so other than the choke thing - would it fit?

Came across this manifold - Two questions
1 Can anyone identify the year ( there was a column shift
steering column in the same picture)?
2 Do you think it would fit my 38 standard 8?

I even bought something from Packards 1. Didn't know about the shuttle twixt the different fields - I must have walked about 10 miles in 2 days. Had to buy a cane because I fell off a step and loused up my foot.

I have a full weekend planned also- Saturday a car show and Sunday another car show. It's nice to get the ole Packard shined up and have the folks try to figure out what kind of car it is. It amazes me how many times I get asked "What kind of car is this". Maybe it's because the only place my car says Packard on it is the hubcaps and the glass on the license plate light.

Welp It's official I'm making my first pilgrimage to Hershey. Just downloaded a map of the place -sure looks confusing. Red Orange etc. I hope I can find my way around. Closest hotel I could find was 20 mi away (used my free nights). Is there an "official" meeting place for the Packard folks? If you see me say Hi, I'll be the old guy with the bewildered look on his face.

Have you sprayed the deck with that crack detecting dye?

Found a site that has reasonable prices on clutch pressure plates and disks. $89 for plates and $24-85 for disks.http://www.vapinc.com/clutch/main.html

Definitely an interesting problem. But logic dictates that air is getting into the water jacket SOMEHOW. I know that doesn't help but for right now that's all I can offer.
