Hello Packard lovers.
One of my Sparton horns is burned due to a short cut. now the magnet is shot. i have got two questions. was the clipper horn technology in parallel used from the sparton company in a more common car?
maybe Ford etc. because these spareparts would be more easy to find for me in Europe. is the magnet for the low and high horn the same?

I do not need a new horn. The horn is burned and it looks burned, but after cleaning the electric contacts it is working again! strong build. last long. BR Josef

dear all, thank you very much for your sympathy and the many ideas that will help me. yes it can be difficult to drive an old car here in germany. if it gets really annoying, expensive expertises from today engineers can be necessary to prove that a technical solution is original and has been working well for 70 years. all not pleasant. but i don't want to spoil your sunday. thank you very much and best regards josef

for the official registration documents in germany i need to know the official top speed for my car. i must show something official from Packard. something like a technical sheet. does anybody know for what kind of publication i should look for? my car is a 1947 overdrive sedan. thank you very much in advance for your reply. For my registration of the car i must tell to the officials how many seats my car has got. i think it is a 5 or 6 seater. I have got a 1947 super clipper sedan. Where to find a original Packard sheet about that?
My owners manual doesn?t show the number of seats. For the repair manual it is the same. no information about this. could anybody please tell me a source for this information? Best regards and thank you very much in advance. Josef

Dear all, my carter WDO 531 S has got a trouble with the electric starter switch. it works everytime good when i start using it. but after the engine runs a few minutes and gets a little warm, the switch doesn?t work. i can not start again by using the accelerator pedal. to get this trouble it is enough that the engine warms a litle bit up. the cold start flap in the carburator starts opening. the engine was only ideling. i can hot wire the electric starter, there is no trouble. it must be somehow a thermical or vacuum problem with the carburator switch. any ideas? looking forward to your reply.
