Yes plug was used to set height for lifter and seat was regrund to center with new guide. Engine ran smooth at first, then rough idel to miss. compresion zero on #1. seat off set seams possible but valve was checked on set after grinding. thanks for the help-Dell

Any ideas as to what might caused excesive wear- new guide, new lifter, new valve. .004 to .005 clerance and less then 10 houres on a 48 356. Guide wear to the point of zero compression on #1, all others 90 to 100 lbs. It is the exhaust guide. Head of valve will move 3/16 inch side to side-sure beats me!

There is an outfit in Quincy, Ca that dies a great job with brass sleeves, once do it is for ever, a little silicone fluid and thats it. i can post address if some one would like it.

I change the diaphragm all the time with out any special tools, you need to us a punch to remove the rubber seal and stake the washer over the new seal. It take some practice to hook the diaphragm back up. I don't change the shaft- if you do just grind off the end.

I had the same problem with my 2259-I tried to clear with all kinds of solvents and using a piece of speedo cable on an drill (this was done after removing the tank) I corrected the problem by drilling a 3/16 hole through the top of the vent housing and then soldering a penney over the hole. worked great and can now fill the tank with out gas coming back out the filler tube-no whisle however.

Mark; 41-42 convertibles are correct with colored plastic for the dash and knobs,also open cars have body color on the dash. yesterdays radio remakes all the colors. i did notice the color difference on the photo that shows the top of cowl and body in front window. i think it is a nice car, but has a lot of things that are not correct and need to be repaired which makes the price some what high .

the R9-1A has the 4 gear planetary gear, the pictured trans needs to be cleaned and make sure to glass bead or sand blast the splines so they move freely in the clutch disk or you are asking for trouble.

Joe; If you look at the adapter (item in your picture) you will see that the two bolt holes and the hole for the solenoid shaft are in a straight line-the male side of the adapter that fits in the od housing is off set-it can go only one way and have the bolt holes line up. It just happens that the small holes are to the rear. If you want to replace the seal C/R 3060 works well, just drive out the old seal and washer-put in the new seal and old washed and stake the washer in. Dell
