Another source of income is to buy a copyof the Hemmings Packard issue and sell it on eBay.

Original cost $5.99
Buy-it-Now price $8.99

Ship & Handle charge $25.00

Gross Profit $28.00

DanL

[Can anybody tell that I find some S&H charges from eBay sellers a bit excessive?]

I did buy a 2nd copy, BUT I am NOT selling it on eBay.

Oh MY!
It looks like someone is trying to drive that ugly Clipper.

rjjordan,

Make sure you 'upload' the picture before you click on 'submit.' At least that is the way with regular postings. It took me a while to figure that out.

Welcome

Larry51,
Most of the pullers that I have seen are 3 bolt setups.
I have also hear mechanics say that leaving the pressure on overnight helps it break loose (as long as you protect it from hitting something if it slides off -- or worse, flys off!)

I am sure there are more stories among the members here, (including heat recommendations). None I have heard so far tell of this as an easy process. The mechanic in the picture was probably not working on a 59 year old axle.

Happy Packarding,
DanL

Crotomac,

Enjoy your Clipper toy. I sure do have much pleasure with mine. I have had it two years.

If you decide on making an Ash Tray Delete, I made a simple one out of an aluminium scrap, painted dash color and plastic door-guard pieces that look like chrome. VERY EXPEN$IVE!

Double click on my dash photo for a close up view. Do it 2X.

Here is my dash pict.
It's dark but gives the idea.
I am not ready to invest $400+ in an ash tray repro for a 'no smoking' Clipper.

I have plenty of other priorities for restoration.

Crookston is 329 miles north of me. I am in Sioux Falls.
You are farther from Mpls, MN than I am.
That is where most of MN Packard Club stuff is held.

Crotomac,

HH56 has it right.
41 and 42 Clippers had an ash tray in the center of the dash.
I made an 'ash tray delete' for my dash center. I consider it a "safety improvement."
The round hole is for the windshield wiper switch and knob.

Here is a pict from the driver's side of my dash.

Also a link to another 41 Clipper. The dash colors aren't right IMHO, but they are illustrative.

Go to 1941 Clipper and it is in that series.

Hope this adds to your Christmas.

PS - Do you know anyone in MN Packard Club?

My copy arrived on Saturday.
Yes, beautiful photos.
Despite technical errors, proofreading stuff, it is wonderful to have a issue with a fleet of Packards in the articles.

My copy still has not arrived in the mail.
