Hopefully attached are pictures of the washer jar and the wiper motor, they seem to attach to the car as you describe in your post.
I doubt that my washer would work at present, don't think it has in the years I've had the car. Well the car hasn't worked recently either, too many projects/jobs and never enough time for fun. Jim

Attached is a photo of the washer nozzle on my 1948 Super. If other photos or under the hood would help let me know. It has the jar, but don't believe these work at present or at least I don't know what button to push to make the work. Jim - jim@hiddenvalleymotel.com

Guesses only, never had a 56 and my 55 was 50 years ago.
What about braces, firewall to dash or firewall to radio or under hood, firewall to fender. The angle of the ends make them look like they are to reinforce a corner. Jim

I read Packard Info often for my enjoyment and education. I had 2 Packards that were equipped with the BTV and had no problems, however that was the early 60's so my experience is maybe not relevant today, but who knows, maybe one day I'll have the chance to own one again, so I'm still interested in the conversations. Isn't it also missing a small bit of upholstery that surrounds the window on the doors? Seems to be a painted area that should be covered. Looked at this one a years or so ago and it didn't look quite correct.

Years ago I worked at an auto dealer, to freshen used cars they would spray a coating on vinyl and sometimes other upholstery items (door panels, carpet, kick pads, etc.)
I don't know that I would say it was a long term fix, but it did initially look better than before. Maybe this wouldn't be the best long term solution, but would masking and spraying some sort of dye limit the problems of trying to remove upholstery and dyeing the material in a vat? Just a wild thought for your consideration.

When my 48 got stiff and didn't want to shift I put the plastic straw on a can f PB Blaster in the hole on the steering column and gave it a generous shot and that did the trick, shifted smoothly afterwards.

In Windows 7 from what used to be called File Manager or Windows Explorer I select my picture and then on the tool bar at top select email, it opens the email program and attaches the picture in a smaller file size, I can then save the picture with a new name and retain the smaller file size. Doesn't make the picture physically smaller if that is the need, but it reduces the file size to a fraction of the original.
