I have a 3 speed for a from a 54 clipper if that helps

Try removing the flare fitting at the tank and see if you have fuel there, if not try blowing into the fitting on the tank and see if you can blow into it, Remove the gas cap first thought.. could also try blowing through to the fuel pump, again disconnect the line at the fuel pump. Could be the screen in the pickup tube is plugged,or the line to the pump. I have installed a see through plastic filter at the tank.

I have been around for quite a while and own 4 1954 Packards, just have not been signed in much the past while lol,, been working on another car, not been driving the packards much lately thought..

have to be careful with the pinion seal thought, when you re tighten the pinion nut, there is a crush sleave in there, that sets the pinion depth, may want to mark the nut to the shaft, then count the turns off, and reverse to put it back on

what i have found helps , it to tap the studs with a hammer, the stuck studs will have a dull sound, the loose ones will ring , spray around all the stuck studs, with some sore of penatrating oil, and tap the studs a bit and they will free up, and the head will lift off a lot easier.
