I watched an episode of Jay Leno's garage and he was showing his 1955 Caribbean when he opened the hood he mentioned the prop rod to help hold the hood open, I definitely do not have one on my 55 400 .is this correct? Thanks

Hello gentlemen hope all is well
First I would like to thank everyone for the great pictures and all the helpful information I was able to fix my problem it was the collar I did give it a soak with some WD-40 for a few days when I looked at the mechanism luckily I could see no rust it looked very clean after some slight adjustments of moving the collar and the button back-and-forth I was able to lock it in place where it needs to be and the door opens with the button again with no issues once again I thank you and my 55 400 "Honey"thanks you for your time and Help
Mark

Hello everyone hope all are well
The issue I am having is I am not able to open my driver side door when I press the button in the door handle from the outside .
I have inserted the key and the cylinder will lock and unlock without an issue I am also able to exit the car from inside when using the handle I can lock the door when using the handle on the inside but when I close the door outside the car button simply does not operate.
I can hear the mechanism moving when I lock and unlock the door with the key .
As always Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Just can't stay away

55packard400
Hello All
I would like to know on the three piece Rear bumper if the end pieces where the exhaust exits through can be removed/replaced without removing the rear bumper from the car. I can't find anything in the service manual to confirm this. As far as I can see there are only 2 bolts holding it in place. As always thanks for any information it's always appreciated.
Thanks

Brake light fuse

Just can't stay away

55packard400
Just had the dash and front and rear windlace replaced in my 55
since this was done
I am having a problem. The 20 amp fuse that is connected to this circuit which also provides Power to the rear cigarette lighters C pillar courtesy lights and outdoor side marker lights as well as the brake lights the fuse blows intermittently .could it be a problem with the pigtail wire that comes off the light switch for the rear courtesy lights maybe a bad door switch ? something is obviously shorting or drowning out the circuit any advice as always is welcome
Thanks Mark

55packard400
The negative battery cable from my battery is bolted right to my engine block does this indicate negative ground? If it is positive ground
Where would the cable from the negative side of the battery attach to
It is a late 55 any possibility it was wired like a 56 because of how late in the production run it was made

Thanks
