Thanks! I have been fiddling around trying exactly that since I first posted the question. No luck so far but I shall persist. Holy moley I just now got it!

56 Ignition cylinder removal

How oh how do I get the ignition cylinder (the chrome faced cylinder into which the key gets inserted) out of the ignition switch assembly? Discussions of this that I have seen involve inserting a paper clip into a hole in the front face of the ignition cylinder, but alas mine has no hole.

I have to get this darn thing out of my dead ignition switch before I can insert it into a functioning one.

Any help much appreciated.

56 caribbean convertible "headliner" color

After many hours of looking around, and much wailing and gnashing of teeth, it is now time to humbly consult the experts. What determines the correct color for the inside of the Caribbean convertible top? Is it the paint code? Is it the interior trim code? I've seen orange (vermillion?) and a reddish pink (Scottish heather?), but it seems that few folks take photos that reveal the inside of the top. To my eyes the paint and upholstery dealer books graciously posted on this site don't provide the answer. Any guidance much appreciated.
