To Forum Ambassador Owen,

You'd mentioned:

"Parts are not a problem and there are folks around who can do a superb job".

Could you list some of those sources for parts and rebuilding?

A late self-introduction - thought I'd post one...

Hello all!

As a not-so-new member to this group, please allow me to finally offer a short self-introduction.

My name is Ralph and I am an owner of three Packards at this time. I plan to acquire more. The ones I currently own include a 1955 Packard Custom Clipper Constellation, 2-dr hardtop. I purchased and pulled this car out of a field in Vermont a few years ago and the seller almost crushed it out.

Another one I own is a 1955 Packard Four Hundred, and is also a 2-dr hardtop. Although it is not in as bad a shape as the Vermont Clipper, it too will be quite a challenge to restore.

The third is once again, a '55 Packard Clipper Constellation. However, this one is unique in that it was built with the more standard coil/leaf suspension arrangement as opposed to the new-at-the-time "Torsion-Level Suspension. It also is a 4-dr and I am told that I should not part this one out due to the rarity of the conventional suspension.

The name of my hobby is Penobscot Packards. I have some other cars all in various stages of repair and restoration but Packards are special to my heart. In a few years, I intend to turn this hobby into a business but for now, I am working on improving my restoration (auto body and engine work) skills.

When I am not at work overseas or on a road trip for another car, you can find me up here in Bucksport, Maine and am always on the lookout for parts for these great cars. I am also always interested in "adopting" another Packard so hopefully with my participation in this group, I may be able to network with like-minded folks in this regard.

Hope to hear a little bit from other members,

Ralph M Bohm

All I can say is...WOW!

What a wonderful day it was; I am very glad I (and my fiancee, Alina) had the chance to get to this great swap meet. We met really wonderful folks and had the great opportunity to sit down to breakfast with friendly and knowledgeable folks.

Thanks, Dave, and Bob and everyone else for taking the time in speaking with us. I am sure looking forward to meeting up with them and others we have not had the please yet to meet.

Hello all,

My "funny lil Honey" And I will most certainly be there Saturday, May 11. we have a '55 Clipper Constellation 2-dr hardtop and a '55 Packard Four Hundred 2-dr hardtop but neither will be with us. One, the Four Hundred, is in terrible condition and waiting to be restored; the other, the Clipper, is even worse, and may not be restorable (but I am going to give it a shot).

I am coming with a 1/2 ton truck to find lots of parts for both to bring back home to Maine.

A thought-provoking question for legality re: my business name...

Hello all!

Okay, so I am going to provoke everyone who is reading this:

I've started up my car restoration business and am calling it "Penobscot Packards".

Questions:
Am I allowed to use the name "Packards" in my little biz?
For that matter, may I use one of the older logos as well?

I think I may not be able to do either legally. What's YOUR take on this topic?

Hello Ozstatman,

Thank you for the welcome. I have found the 8-digit number on my engine and will register it. I hope it is the original engine.

Ralph,

PS,

I've just completed the add of all that I know about this car at this writing.

As far as I know, I have a '55 Packard Custom Clipper Constellation black /cream/black in exterior color.

I still do not know what size the engine is but this number is what I've found to the right of the oil fill tube:
5567 2452

I have no VIN on the driver's door post; I see the area where it once was located but it has been removed since.

I have what I believe to be the correct theft-proof number:
025365
