My experience for the sixties was that the door and ignition key was the same and that the trunk and glove box were the same key if installed at the factory. Therefore two keys.

I understand that the engine should be grey, however my 53 Caribbean also had a green engine. Even the motor mounts were and bell housing were green. Someone had painted over most of it with grey paint. Where they could not get to easily it still was green.

Does this model have a filter on the tank sending unit. If so this might also be the problem.

At a minimum I would take your head to an engine rebuild shop and have them plane the head. It makes it easier to get a good fitting of the head gasket.

I would assume that in order to keep it tight there would need to have some tension on the pulley. Check the alignment with the other pulleys .

Looks like you got quite a project there. I have a 53 caribbean. If you need any pictures let me know. Good luck finding the parts.

Does this model have the step down resister in line. If so, and is not there or bad, the high voltage/current will cause the points to burn .

I suspect that the right plug is the champion J 8 or autolite. A7.

The J 11 is the next hotter range plug used for slow drivers or when plugs are fouling.
