I used a pump from our 88 Honda accord mounted back by the tank. Works great on my 35 120.

My 35-893 would overheat during high speed runs. When we decided to restore the car and rebuild the engine, we discovered no matter what we did the cooling distribution tube would not come out. So, we did the pressure washer thing at every opening. We had the radiator rebuilt, and since the car would be getting A/C I installed a ‘54 water pump and a 7 blade fan from a later model Mopar v8. Had to cut it to 16 inches diameter as I remember but a simple job on a radial arm saw with a cut off wheel.

You wil have to probably machine the hub a bit to fit the water pump pulley and redrill the hole pattern to match. Not too difficult.

It made a great difference.

What modern carbs bolt to the '35 120 intake manifold?

Thanks so much, I will be trying this also. It will be a bit till get back to working on the car again but I'm thankful for the suggestions. I know the radiator is clean and clear so this will be one more thing to check in the quest for appropriate cooling. I need it to be cool for adding the A/C.
Thanks again,
Mike

Stuck Water distribution tube '35 893

Since I now have to remove the front clip after the fire to "rework" things, does anybody have a good suggestion as to getting the water distribution tube out of the block. When we restored the car in '98 the engine shop that did the rebore could not get the tube out of the block. It had been sitting for more than 25 years when we bought it. It has always run a bit hot at speed. It has a new style ball bearing water pump, but stock otherwise. My thought is to drill two opposing holes (top and bottom), make a hook device and attach it to a LARGE slide hammer. Alternatively, use progressive sized reamers to remove as much corrosion as possible. Your thoughts please?

Hi,
The overdrive mounts in the center of the drive shaft. I split my original shaft and had new u-joints welded to the halves after cutting to the correct length. There's a small computer module that mounts up under the dash and a switch under the dash to activate it. Have to go, more later.

I think I'm going to rebuild my trumpets, and make them 12 volt as well. I'm not totally sure how this is accomplished but it shouldn't be that difficult. I now have some other things that need polished and powdercoated so the horns will get added to the list.

Hi Jim,
I came from a Packard family. My dad bought a new '55 Patrician (blue/lt blue/blue) in 55 for the family prime mover and when I turned 15 we traded in my 53 Lowe Coupe for a 55 400 (roman Copper & cream) with destroyed transmission. We parked the two cars side by side and slid the entire front clip off in one piece from both cars and swapped engines and trans, and reassembled. Added dual quads. This is what I drove to high School. Now I own the 35. It caught fire last saturday and now I have to do a lot of rework. I need a complete hood assembly, a set of horns, the rear hood hold down bracket for the cowl. The chrome louvres on the hood side panels melted, so I need those too.

Found a manifold from a '47. The casting is thicker walled and will work just fine for my application.

I need an exhaust manifold for 35 120 Model 893. I' believe the 282 engine series will interchange, the difference being in the choke tube heat riser housing, which I don't now use any way.
