Thanks everyone. I think I might have found the problem. Not breakers but the relay box. I noted that one of the terminals that had the green resistor attached was loose and the resistor was no longer firmly attached to the terminal. It must have been making periodic contact because the shifter mechanism was working part time. I replaced the relay with a new one and I have my fingers crossed that, that was the issue.

Thanks, Home from Fargo. I bought an off the shelf 20 amp from NAPA and am going to try it. They had models all the way to 40 amps, and a lot less expensive than the round ones from our friendly Packard vendors.

Another question regarding the 56 pushbutton circuit breakers. After operating the pushbuttons between the different sectors the circuit breaker gets too hot to touch. When I put a thermometer on it it was around 120 degrees. Is this normal?

Thanks Howard. I called it a relay but I really did mean circuit breaker.

Anyone know if there is a circuit breaker that can be successfully used in place of the round circuit breaker, preferably one that can found from common sources like NAPA or like?

Manually operated Bijur Lubricating System

I have a 1929 633 that still has the manual operating Bijur system installed but it is is missing parts and I am sure is in need of a detailed general cleaning. I know Bruce Blevins and others are making parts for these systems but I need to find someone who is proficient and is willing to restore this system to operation. I am what many call a purist and don't want to alter to a manual grease system. Anyone have any suggestions?
