Perhaps a bit late now (though simple grooves in the posts shouldn't be a problem if they are small), but often it's necessary to make a simple shim to secure the rotor snugly to the shaft. I've used aluminum foil for that.
Can't help you with new cap, I know they're around and I saw a couple at Hershey yesterday, but I've also heard that the mold and tooling for the repros has been lost or damaged. One of the ones I saw yesterday was at the Max Merritt booth. Just as an aside, it's a bit disconcerting to see that repro and NORS parts and that have been available and that we assumed would be available indefinately to replace OEM parts that were NLA, are themselves beginning to become NLA. So if the car is a keeper and you see it NOW, don't assume it will be available at some point inthe future.

Thanks, a couple of grooves are deep, wondering if I can use some solder to fill them a bit?
Did you put the foil on the flat side or all around? Gene

Re the foil, you've got to keep the rotor concentric with the shaft so assuming the opening in the rotor is uniformly too large, then you've got to put the foil all the way 'round, If you are really unlucky the opening in the rotor will be eccentric or misformed, then it's much more of a chore.
I'd give it a try first before resorting to soldering the posts. A conductive paste filler might be a better alternative.

Thanks, I'll check with him. Probably will need the rotor as well.

The new ones I've seen don't fit as good as the originals.
I used some thin brass shim stock on the flat of the distributor cam with a new rotor from Max Merritt ($95) to tighten it up. maxmerrittauto.com/
