What was the factory paint scheme in 1937? Was the entire engine painted after assembly such that all the fasteners were also green, or where individual components painted and then assembled? Thanks!

Ken, the 120s and 115s were production automobiles and as such followed mass production practices of the day. I am not sure about this, but would say that the engine block, pan, head, bell housing, and water pump were all painted together after assembly. Accessories that were added later like starter, generator, distributor were all finished by their manufacturer. Fan and water pump pulley were probably painted before being attached to the engine. Intake and exhaust manifolds I am not sure about, but someone here will know.

Personally, I like to have the individual parts painted then assembled. Something about seeing the gasket in the part line and the fasteners in their natural color. Stainless steel fasteners really dress up an engine without being too glitzy. Of course this is not authentic and one would lose points in a judged show.

The whole thing was painted at the same time with the oil fill cap and other accessories slapped on and the motor number given a white wash with lead based paint.
