packardclub.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=266 Return springs on mechanical brakes tend to have more tension that with hydraulics; rather than just having to push some fluid back to the master with no real resistance, they have to return a hole assembly of cams, levers, rods and cables back to their original positions.
