1930 luggage rack fixings

Gents,

Could anyone point me in the direction of a supplier for these fixings.

They are used in conjunction with the chrome buttons to fix the wooden slats to the luggage rack. I am refubishing the slats and a few of the screws are on too tight to remove. I will have to drill them out but want to make sure I can get new ones before I take such drastic measures

Thanks

I believe that Henry Yeska stocks them.

Kts68,

A gent (machinist) my bother works with just made some for me out of stainless. I asked if he is willing to make some more for another Packard mate and he said he can make 15 more.

If you like him to make them for you I can get a price for you?

My brother was over yesterday and stated the machinist is making more of these bolts.

If anyone is interested in purchasing some please let me know.

I can take some pictures of the extras I have that he made for me and post if you like.

That would be of interest. I was planning to refurb them myself with nickel plate but new stainless ones would be a nice touch.

If you can post some pictures and prices that would be appreciated

Kts68,

Will get some pictures posted tonight of the extras I have.

And for price he stated he likes some type of Polish beer. I will purchase it since he is doing some other machine work for me anyways. All I would need from you is just the cost of shipping to you. That is if you like what you see from the pictures.

By the way how many do you need for your rack?

Thanks Tom - most kind of you.

I would need 24 fixings (4 per slat, 6 slats as the picture above)

Before you commit though, I ought to check the thread size - its possible that they might not be as original after 81 years and maybe 3 restorations!!!

Thanks again

Ken

Interesting mine has 5 slates and only 3 fixings per slate.

Would you like me to check what thread size he is making them to?

Are the one fixings on yours chromed?

FYI
He is also making the Trunk Rack Lock Knobs and he is going to see if he can make the Perch Bolts from some pictures I sent him since I don't have the originals.

Here's a couple of pictures of the fixings with the new slats I've had made in English Oak

I'm no engineer but I measured the external diameter of the threads to be 340/1000" which equates to 3/8"

The thread pitch seems to be 28 TPI

If this concurs with yours I will be happy that I've measured correctly

Thanks again
