Anyone? I have a Long-Time engine apart and moved project that I am trying to piece back together. This is a 25/26 EDL long wheelbase sedan. 215781 Is the engine number.
I would at LEAST like to talk to someone that has built one of these 2nd series 8 cylinder engines.
With parts missing, I am not sure exactly what IS missing. I can compare this engine with a 24 and 29 that I have, but it is not the same... Some changes were made and it is not easy to move forward until I know what I need....

Email me at funcars4us@hotmail.com
Thanks,
Rod

The most significant difference between the 1st/2nd series Eights and the later engines is the crankshaft design which then leads to a change in the timing order. The earlier (1st/2nd) series is essentially a 4-4 shaft, and the 3rd series began the same design used by all or almost all in-line 8 makers ever since, a 2-4-2 layout which gives rise to the nearly universal timing order of 1-6-2-5-8-3-7-4.

There is a restoration shop here in NJ that's rebuilt quite a few 1st and 2nd series engines. They're in the business of doing this work for profit and probably aren't willing to spend a lot of time with "do it youselfers" but if you want to give me some specific questions to ask them, send me a PM.

Back to the 2nd series engine. I am missing the oil rectifier system and a few other parts. but I can move forward if I can find out how others have dealt with missing pieces of this system. Specifically, the manifold that is placed inside the valve lifter galley with the connectors to the holes in base of each cylinder. If I just dont use this, the crank case gases caused by combustion just enter the valve lifter galley through the open holes. I dont see the harm of leaving these open..
