What size bead was used on my '28 526 on the lace between the fenders and frame/body? Was it the 1/4 or 3/16 inch dia bead? Also did the lace start from the edge of the fender and runningboard or just from the fenders to body and frame trim piece? IE was there beaded trim between the fenders and runningboard and side apron and runningboard? A photo of the installation would be appreciated.

Is there no one who knows what size fender bead was used and where it started and stopped on the fenders/runningboard? Even just a photo of one of the members cars from the '26 thru '30 would help.

3/16 for the welting unless you have some body fit problems to hide. In the old days they used 1/4 to hide gaps.

There is no welting between the running board and the splasher. The welting runs between the fender and running boards. You can get some help by downloading the 533 brochure from this site.

I have a picture of an original 243 that shows welting running all the way forward.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much.
For anyone else that has a '27-'29, please post a photo of the assembled runningboard and fender junctions.

My '28 5-26 has a 3/16 bead on all 3 of the running boards' 4 sides (excluding the exterior side of course).
