Does anyone have a photo of the prewar Clipper bumper overriders that went on the ends of the bumpers? Or was that a postwar-only accessory?

I believe I worked for Car Collector at the time. I have a set and will look at it.
I believe both known 1942 180 Clippers were in Dayton about a year ago. I think one of them still is (the green one). Thanks. Those are the ends I was looking for. I have a photo from a friend that was taken when his family's 1942 Clipper was new and it has those ends. I told them I thought they looked like they were General Motors origin. Now I have to eat crow.

West, At the time the article was written the car was owned by Neil Torrence in California. It was the inspiration for me to decide that the Senior Clipper was the car for me.

I was managing editor of Car Collector at the time. You are correct Neil owned the car at the time. I believe both 180s are now owned by the same person, and they may have been donated to the Packard Museum in Dayton (or at least one of them... the former Harrah car).
I didn't remember those bumper ends on the car. They actually aren't very attractive. The postwar ends are much nicer looking. You can see why I thought the prewar ends were of General Motors origin.

One of the 2 known 1942 Custom Super Clipper sedans was at Hershey this year, parked just behind PAC's tent. I believe it may have been this one as the color appears the same.

Here's the fully-loaded (but no a/c) 1942 120 Clipper. It was bought new by a friend's father in April 1945 from the Boston Packard dealer... supposedly the last eight-cylinder new car available in the state at the time (take that with as much salt as you like).

West, I am glad you found the article. I looked high and low for my copy of the article and couldn't find it.

I should have mentioned: July 1990 with a Chrysler 300C on the cover.
