Hi
I had one of those. You can remove the filter canister without the worry of a bunch of oil flowing out. Some will but not a lot (it would be a good idea to place a pan under it to catch the oil which will mostly come from the canister). Once you have the canister removed, you'll need to unscrew it using a strap wrench (readily available at Lowes and you'll need 2 of them). It gets messy from that point on as there will be oil inside the canister and surrounding the spin on oil filter. I dreaded changing the oil so much that I designed (and now sell) a completely new type of filter. You can see it here: whiteglovecollection.com/shop/packard-oil-filter-conversion-kit/ It allows me to keep an original look while making changing the oil a breeze. I hope this helps. -Crin
