1940 Packard 120 motor swap (282->288)

Hi all,

Working on putting a running 288 in place of the roached 282 in my 1940 120 touring sedan. I found these documents (https://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/archive/content.php?ContentID=437)

Anyone done this or similar swap with a post war motor? Any tips?
I'm not sure what to make of the "press in the dash with a block of wood and a jack" part, I assume they're using that to make clearance for the rear of the head/block by pressing towards the rear of the vehicle?

I am using the original trans, can I get away with the original drive shaft for now?

Thanks in advance for any advice and input!
