Cam & bearings removal -'29 Standard Eight

I'm ready to remove the cam on my 1929 standard eight. I've removed the dowel pins but how do I remove the cam and bearings? I can see that the two bolts for the front cam bearing retainer are accessible via holes in the cam gear. Once these are removed will the cam & bearings slide out, or is a puller needed? Or do you tap the cam out from the rear?

Appreciate any insights,
Brian

You may want to review p. 156 (98) here:packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/1930-32_ServicePartsList.pdf

And M541 on p. 160 here (though I suspect this is already what you are referencing):packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/1929_ServiceManual.pdf

They mention a puller in an earlier step but not this one, so I would assume it's not necessary, however if you can attach the "hole" end of an adjustable wrench or something to the end of the cam shaft, it would help pull it out. A favorite trick of mine when working on rear axles.
