valve cover leak (356)

I am struggling with a stubborn leak in the bottom rear corner of the rear valve cover. I have replaced the gasket, but still leaks in the same place. I tightened the bolt securely, but not overly tight because both covers are already slightly dimpled.

I have not checked to see if the cover is warped, is that a common problem? Any tips when I give it another try?

Thanks everyone,
Mark

Check to make sure the cover is not bend or warped in that corner.

Good chance that your bolts are bottoming because the face of the cover has been caved in from past overtightening. Its possible to reach through the back of the cover with a 5/16 pin punch or old bolt and tap the front surface back out.
