Did Packard offer different size pinion shafts on their junior 23rd series cars?

No.
Only the Custom 8 356/senior cars got the big rear axle (plus Henneys I would presume...)

The 22nd series Taxi's (2240) stayed with the "junior" rear end too.

Thanks Flackmaster. I recently sold a complete rear end out of a 23rd series that the buyer cannot find a pinion seal for. He said the pinion shaft is 1 5/8 but I think it should be 1 3/4 inch. ???????????
