23rd Eight Touring Sedan latch part

Dear All,

We are looking for the component pictured below. It is from a 23rd series eight touring sedan door latch mechanism, driver's side. It is part of the mechanism that operates the latch lock from the lock cylinder. I have looked through the parts book, and cannot find anything that matches. However, I am not very familiar with the post war parts books.

Any ideas on:

1) What it is called, and if in the parts book, where?

2) Where I might get it?

Thanks tons,

Tom

It looks broken off. If it is located on or inside the latch assembly itself -- the large mechanism that bolts to the door edge -- I don't believe any individual parts were available from Packard -- just complete assemblies. Max carries those, probably Kanter too.

There are some repair kits other mfgs made available for the outside toothed wheel part. Some of those kits fit that era Packards but don't believe they consist of anything more than the toothed wheel and a wheel retainer.

If the broken piece is located on the door somewhere besides the actual latch then a picture just where it was mounted would be a great help in seeing what it might be and if there is a replacement.

The pictured part is internal to the latch assembly and not serviced as a separate piece. There are 2 rivets that would need to have the heads drilled or ground off and a plate with bent over tabs that must be removed in order to get at this item.

Best to replace the latch assembly with a good one.

sorry, blurred late night vision. I have NOS rear latches, left and right, but no sedan fronts. I have coupe/conv. but I don't know the difference from sedan latches.
