D-nuts for sheetmetal

Gentlemen,
As you probably know, many of the inner fenders, splashers, etc. use a D-nut welded to one panel and a 1/4 screw/bolt. I'm looking for the D-nuts. Tried McMaster, Restoration Supply and Snyder's. Snyder's has some for Model A applications but they are different and don't look quite right. Any help for those D-nuts?
Thanks.
Mark

I need some too and thanks for the correct name and Snyder link. Those look better than what I was considering.

Am curious what you see different with the 1/4-20 size. I'm missing several on those box pieces that form the front behind the grill. Once the capture lip is crimped over or set, those remaining on mine would look very similar. The overall diameter could be an issue though and Snyder doesn't give any basic specs.

Howdy Howard,
I am looking here for the Snyder version:

http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/modelaparts/dnuts

As I recall the originals were just flat and I think a more elongated "D" presumably to make welding easier. I guess I can try these, but just wondered if this was the only alternative.

This is what mine look like. Maybe these have been changed from stock but other than Snyders crimp not being turned over, I think they look very similar -- if the overall diameter is good.

Darn it, the car isn't here so I can't take a look. At least half of the ones I removed broke loose and just spinned. And, I didn't save any of the rusted nuts/bolts.

So, were the D-Nuts meant to be crimped and not welded? Makes sense that a crimp would be way easier.

Mine appear crimped but can only assume that is the way they were from the factory. You can see in the photo the nut on the right has rotated slightly in the hole. Doubt a weld would have done that and don't see any sign of welds but then several are gone or holes are rounded so anything is possible.
