I checked the service manual but all the terms did not make any sense to me..loader? Unloader??
Is it a matter of loosening the big nut, turn the split shaft and tightening the nut?
All help appreciated

If you're assuming you have excessive free play by comparison to modern rack & pinion steering, your assumption may not be correct. First thing to do before even thinking about the steering box is to determine how much free play you have at the steering wheel rim with the wheels straight ahead. If 2" or so I'd consider than normal; if more the next thing is to have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth while you call under the car and check to see if the play is in the tie rod ends, idler arm end, king pins, or if in fact it is actually within the steering gear box.

Knowing if it is truly excessive and if so, just where the play is would allow us to take you to the next steps.
