I am looking for a hood ornament for a 1948 2292. I think it is a cormorant. Any place that I can start to look for one?

Good Morning...The last time I checked, Max Merritt had one in stock. Kantars may have one as well. Then other suppliers who are on the site, may let you know that they have one in stock, as well. Ernie

Lonny,
Ebay and Craigslist have been a good source over the years.
You can search CL by state with http://www.statewidelist.com/ or http://www.dailylister.com/for a national CL list search. There of course are other search engines. statewidelist also searches Ebay.
Good luck

Actually, it is a swan, the cormorant appears on the coat of arms. The swan is a beautiful bird, the cormorant, not so much.

Although I'm not sure what would have been standard for the different models, there were several ornaments that would fit your car with the cormorant being one of them. To me it looks the best but it is also the most likely to get accidentally broken, purposely vandalized or even stolen.

Unless showing it, I kept a 1953-54 cormorant on my 1952 Henney-Packard because it still looked good but wasn't as fragile. For shows, I would switch to the proper one.

The aftermarket swans, though, look terrible but the proper one for your car shouldn't be all the difficult to locate should you still want the cormorant.
