When installing new delco points in delco distributor 1110811, which side of the of the connection block does the points attach. Outside (1) or inside (2) of the fiber block?

Thank you.

I don't have a Delco distributor or any decent Delco photos but on my Autolite I would place it in position 1. You want the most natural flow of the contact strap which also acts as a spring. I don't think the tension would be impacted much in either position unless position 2 forces the end and curve in the strap back towards the case. Without seeing the hole and it's position in the strap, to me it looks as if placing it in position 2 could cause the end of the strap to come very close to the grounded metal mount.
