One of the cars featured in the book Packard, the Pride is a 2126. There are two antennas. One is the roof mount version probably for the dash radio and the other is mounted on the rear fender passenger side for the rear armrest radio.

Clipper 47,
Thanks for the reference. I should have checked there first. It's odd that my 47 has the radio, but no antenna (or hole in the roof). Any thoughts on where I can get a new antenna with rotator?

Don,
The 1946 Accessories brochure also shows a vacuum antenna that mounts on the left front fender. Any sign of a mounting hole there? The roof mounted rotary antennas are scarce and tend to be quite pricey.

In the 22nd-23rd series there were two radios offered; if I can remember the build-codes correctly they were RRA (radio - roof antenna) and RFA (radio - fender antenna). Perhaps the 21st series was similar. While the roof antennas are nifty conversation pieces, as has already been pointed out they are hard to come-by in good condition and VERY expensive to remast.

The 1946 Accessory book only shows the roof antenna and the drivers side fender mounted vacuum unit. The rear fender unit I am almost certain would be for a rear compartment radio in the 2126 models. My '47 2106 parts car has a roof antenna also.

Thank you for all the good information on this topic. Guess I'll be looking for one of those pricy roof antennas

Be a cautious shopper, Don. The roof antennas used by Buick and Hudson look very similar and may be adaptable or have useful parts, but they are not the same unit.

The 22nd 23rd series build sheets use RV for the radio with vacuum antenna. I believe the Vacuum antenna was new for 1948. Does anyone have literature that shows the vacuum antenna earlier.

46 data & facts book (pg 146) states radio accessory may be used with either the vacuum or rotary antenna. I have one on my 47.
