56 Clipper Custom Air Cleaner

Does anyone know the manufacturer of the oil bath air cleaner for the 56 Clipper Custom. It's only used on that model (part # 6480939). It has an uncanny resemblance to the Ford Air Cleaner in 56..

The ones on the AMC Packard v8's are exactly the same.

They're slightly different as the AMC ones were for 2 barrels and had a different part number (6480801). I keep thinking it might have been made by United Specialties like the Golden Hawk one. Trying to find the blueprint in the hopes they note the mfr.

Did a search on the Nash motor and came up with this picture. Looks to be like the Ford (bar across intake) but has thumbscrew on the bottom to hold it on to the carburetor. Clipper unit doesn't have this and is secured by the wingnut on top. See pic

Just got the packard blueprint. Air Cleaner was made by Houdaille-Hershey Corporation possibly Oakes Division out of North Chicago, Illinois. Print had wording for decal but no picture. Found another decal by them from the same period and have made up what I think was the sticker. Now to see if I can get a decal made.

Home away from home

Try "Classics & Exotics". I had an unusual one for my '32 Bijur system and I sent them a photo of the one on my system. They did not offer one of the same style. However, they asked if I would send them the one from my system so they could use it for a pattern so they could offer it for sale, which I replied to with a yeas. My reward was they sent me one (at no cost) when they returned the original.

Mine is secured with a wing nut on the top.

I think this is the final rendition. The wording is from the blueprint. Thank you Bruce Blevins. and the size as scaled 1.625" X 4". In the process of getting a water slide decal made. So far I haven't seen an original so I'm guessing about the top lines.
