I'm working on a 55 Patrician that belonged to my late grandfather. He had removed the strike plate at some point. The key works in the lock and will move lever A out. I can't figure out what should push lever B down so that part C will move so the trunk can open or close. I know on the 56's you turn the hexagon emblem to open the trunk after it has been unlocked but I don't see anything to turn (other than the key) on the 55 Patrician.

I'm not sure but I think it's only C that gets released. The other night be an inside release in case you're inside the trunk and it somehow closes! Incidentally, I have an NOS set with trunk lock assembly and glove box lock assembly factory keyed alike.

Squeeze C in by hand then use a flathead screwdriver to rotate that rectangular slot at the top about 1/2 turn clockwise, then the operation should be obvious.

Pretty much the only failure point on these is that big coil spring which on yours looks fine.
