The first big step alone......

I've just gone over the 1,000 mile mark on my car and will be getting a lube plus oil change.

Several people have commented that I should add a product called sea foam to the oil, presumably for its defoaming qualities....

When I went to the sea foam site, they sell it as a gum cleaner that (as I understand it) you don't leave in the oil for more than say 100 miles.

I have been running Shell 15-40 Rotella from Sam's club, with a pint overfill which eliminates the dreaded tappet tango.

I have ZDF additive, but have not used it.

I would appreciate your feedback about the best possible combination here.

FYI engine has 75,000 miles; a new standard oil pump (with bushing) was installed before I got it in April. Gauge pressure at speed is normally a little more than half.....

My 56 Packup is nearing 125,000 miles, close to 20k in my ownership, on Rotella 15W-40 since I've had it. No mousemilk or wonder juice of any kind--and always a pint overfilled. The engine is happier and smoother than ever and the oil stays translucent between changes (3000 miles).

I have noticed similar good results on my 51 and all the Studes. Some of them I have owned more than 20 years so had a good baseline to notice an actual difference after starting with Rotella.

Anyway, my vote is that you already have a winning program.

Here's a couple shots right after the conversion, before the rear window was put in. She's hauled a lot of stuff since then.
