Most upholsters use a contact cement -- It's called upholsterer's contact cement so it may be slightly different than what is commonly available in a spray can.
If you do a search using that term some discussions mentioning commonly available alternatives come up. I would think using one of those good high strength sprays mentioned would work as well. What I would wonder about in your situation is the type padding you have. I think you will have to determine the construction before deciding on a repair. Some Packard door padding was essentially many layers of something akin to Kleenex pressed together. If that is what you have and the layers are separating, I would wonder how well any cement would work if another layer separated later.

Thanks, that led me to DAP contact cement and Amazon reviews led me to Barge. I ordered that and we'll see how that works
