Give Packard Accessories Sign

We came across this sign at one of the "Sheds" we visited in New Zealand. It was printed on thin paper stock. The current owner bought this at Hershey several years ago. He then mounted it to a piece of cardboard and framed it.

None of the Packard guys present had ever seen one before. I'm pretty sure it was a seasonal promotional piece put up at the dealerships. Given that it was printed on thin paper, not sure how many even survived.

Anyone else ever seen one?

I haven't, but here's a clean copy made from your image if anyone wants to print one off.

Didn't see anyone respond that they had ever seen a sign like this before. Maybe I'll have to pour through the Promotional Pointers and related marketing pieces and see if I can identify when this was issued.

The test batch looks fairly decent, but the colors are a bit darker than expected, but I think that because of the stock or printing process used by the commercial printer. I'll have to ask them if I can overly increase the brightness in the digital file to compensate for it.

I shipped out a few of tests pieces to some of the other folks in the New Zealand expeditionary force to see what they think, as they saw it like in person as well.

At least I have a piece I can put up during the holidays by the X-Mas tree!

Nice. On my file I had to narrow the white point and black point. I think both around 10-15% to wash out the paper stock background and also deepen the blacks. I can do the same on your image if you would want to send it.

I basically digitally redrew everything on my latest version, as the photograph had a lot of distortion, and the original on the wall had multiple creases in the paper. So, I have a version two that is absolutely clean and scalable.

The issue is a combination of the stock being used and the printing process, making the colors much darker than those in the file. So, I'll have to brighten all the colors to compensate for that. I may do a test run of just a couple of pieces and see how those come out. If those are good, I can do a larger batch, reducing the cost per piece.

I will also look at the price difference between the current die-cut version and having them print it on rectangular stock, and then I can cut it here. I'll let them do the work if the difference isn't that much.

The version I am producing is on thicker stock, compared to the original, which was printed on thin paper. This is probably why very few ever survived.

Also, there is no black in the picture. It's just Light Green, Dark Green, and Red. The white is the stock. What appears to be black around the Packard script is the same Dark Green.

Version 2, which was completely vector redrawn so all the details are crisp, and the colors are more correct. This one is larger as well at 24" x 9-1/2".
