So who wants to join me for the world premiere of "The Last Shift" - a documentary about the Packard Plant and its demise?

freep.com/article/20140302/ENT01/303020066/packard-freep-film-fest-detroit

If you attended the 2013 Packard National Meet you had a chance to see a preview from Brian Kaufman, the filmmaker. He also showed some of his before and after images and spoke of his adventures making the film.
See you there. -Roger--

Looks like an excellent documentary and very well done.....would love to be there in person....traveling from Ohio to Detroit is certainly doable....Its just the thought of going to Detroit is so depressing.....I hope the full documentary film is available on some other venue after its Detroit premiere..... The Packard Plant is fascinating to many people including myself.....I was able to walk thru the old buildings 2 yrs ago.....brought back a couple of bricks and some wooden blocks from the plant floor...a piece of marble from the main lobby floor and a couple of piece of tile from the main entrance on East Grand Blvd.....a few souvenirs from the past....Its hard to believe anyone could make anything viable from the old plant....but there is always hope.....Good luck to the new owner...he sure has a formidable project in his future.......

Hey , what's wrong Detroit??

If you cannot make it for the premiere that might be OK. The PPG is working to have a second showing as a fundraiser in May. But it is NOT confirmed just yet. Stay tuned. And please let me know if this is of interest to you.

By the way, this past week a group of 4 people representing Motor City Packards and the Packard Motor Car Foundation met with the new owner of the Packard Plant. Meeting went VERY well and he will be joining PAC. More later.

Roger

Tonight is the night!

Here is the latest hype on the premiere from today's Detroit Free Press:
freep.com/article/20140320/ENT01/3032000 ... p-Film-Festival-Packard-documentary Contains plenty of links to photos of the plant, videos and related articles.

I know of about 30 to 35 people from Motor City Packards that will be attending, the VIP seats are now sold out (250+) and only a small number of general admission seats remain available.

There will be a panel discussion after the film is over that will include Brian Kaufman, the film maker, Fernando Palazuelo, the new owner of the Packard Plant and some one representing the Packard Motor Car (PPG) Foundation.

See you there.

P.S. 55Packardconv: I left you a voicemail on your home phone - your office phone would not take a voicemail.

One more thing.

An MCP member alerted me to a radio interview the was done by the film maker, Brian Kaufman.

Click onto this link and then click on the icon to hear the 8 minute audio recording of the interview:
