I had my gas tank boiled and cleaned at the radiator shop. Where do I get a new sender unit O ring. I painted the outside of tank with engine aluminum paint.

Kanter can probably fix you up.kanter.com/packard/pac-454.html They have repro fuel senders and sell those along with repro tanks so they most likely have the O ring and associated parts too.

My sending unit is good, I bet the shipping is more than the O ring itself. ha I will look local first. Thanks for the reply.

You are probably right but on occasion Kanter has been known to supply small things like O rings and clips very inexpensively. If you can find local make sure to get something fuel resistant as the typical O rings sold in hardware stores is not.

If you are so inclined, while the tank is out would be a good time to make a trunk access hole in case there are future sender issues. Sure saves a lot of aggravation by no longer needing to go thru the tank removal.

I don't remember the car he was working on at the time but Ross came up with and posted these dimensions some years ago. I didn't find his original post but believe it was a 51-4 model. I think the dimensions are virtually the same for 51-6 since the tanks are the same. Several have made the opening in their cars since then. Covered neatly with a plate and if the trunk mat is still present to lay over the area, the opening will never be seen.

We often send minor items like the O-ring for free when problems like this show up on the forums. It does not matter if the poster is a current customer of ours or not.

Great idea on trunk access hole for my 53 patrician. I will call Kanter I am a customer. I will see if I need something else before I call. I love this site.

+1 on cutting the hole in the trunk floor. I did it on my 53. Very helpfull.

We have sent out an o-ring for your gas tank free of charge. It should have gone out this morning. I would imagine you should see it in about 3-5 days. If there is anything that we can help you in the future please let us know.
