other than the Crank and I am guessing rods are there any other differences between the 288 and the 5 main bearing 327? Thank you

Yes the connecting rods are shorter in the 327 verses the 288....

Possibly lifters and camshafts. Hydraulic lifters were an option for 23rd series and later 288s and 5 main 327s. I would bet the vast majority of the smaller 288 engines had solid lifters. The 327 5 main engines were optional on some low end models but standard on the mid range models. They could also have solid lifters but I would guess most of them came with hydraulic.

Yeah, I forgot about the lifters. What about the block? My guess is it could be the same.
