Hi Folks, I have a hot ignition cable that always stays hot when key is off, drains 6 volt battery very fast. Any help would be appreciated....Lee

I assume you mean the primary wire to the coil? If so, it's probably a failure of the ignition switch.

If you don't have one already, install a battery cutoff switch - highly recommended!!

I had a new ignition cable replaced and sent back......Could it be MAX MERRIT made an error on ignition switch......very expensive and disappointing.

If you don't have one, there is a much better wiring diagram on the PAC site than the one here.packardclub.org/ If that is the wire O_D mentions, then can only be the switch because that wire has it's own terminal on the switch.

TEll us more about the switch. A picure would be nice. Is it a new, used or reproduction ignition switch???? Is it identicle to the switch that was replaced????

Maybe just install the old switch or take it apart and fix it.

HEY FOLKS, FOUND THE PROBLEM........THE POINTS WERE STUCK IN THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR, WHICH KEPT IT BASICALLY TURNED ON WHILE DRIVING, NEVER CHARGING THE BATTERY AND NOT STARTING WITH BATTERY DRAINED..........THANKS MUCH FOR YOUR HELP AND TIME.....
