Enclosed trailer please, SALADO

Does anyone in the DFW area have an enclosed trailer I can use for my frame and motor for Salado. I stopped by the trailer rentail place I was going to use and the trailer I could afford didn't have D-rings in the floor to tie the frame down. I'm willing to rent at the price the store was charging. $75 If nobody has one, probably won't beable to show at Salado this year. .

Maybe the trailer rental place will put in some D-rings for you?

its not going to happen. i called. they wont.

so unless someone will let me use their trailer i'm not going to get to show my progress off this year at Salado.

all i need is a 7x16 enclosed cargo trailer. let me borrow it, and i'll put d-rings in it, they are cheap enough. ebay has a pack of 10 for 35 bucks.

it doesn't have to be a car hauler. just an enclosed cargo trailer.

i know someone has something like that around here in DFW.

lets work something out

Hank

Hank - I made a cradle out of 6x6's (see string on the work table)screwed together, which I used to transport my rebuilt engine in my flatbed trailer to shop for reinstallation. I used an open trailer, which allowed me to boom down the engine by passing the straps over the engine and around the trailer, rather than by D rings. Just remember to loop the straps around the manifold to keep things tight.

I think you can rent an open trailer from U Haul (Y'all Haul in Dallas) and do the same thing. You can use 2x4's to block the 6x6 frame in the bed of the trailer to keep it from shifting. Sorry I'm not closer to Dallas anymore, the Salado meet was always a fun one to go to.

thanks for the thoughts, but my motor is already in the frame.

and the reason i wanted enclosed is because we planned on staying friday night and waking up and unloading. i don't want to keep it overnight on an open trailer...too much risk. and too much risk of being pelted by trash and rocks etc if i take it down on saturday morning on a open trailer.

i really don't want anything happening to the motor etc. too much work and money. if the car was finish i would just drive it (no trailer queen). i'm just trying to protect it before it is put together.

i had thoughts of tarping it up latching the tarp down really tight, but i'm afraid it will flap around and damage something. if i did this i could use an open trailer and just come down on saturday morning like i normally do.

but...if something happens...i'm screwed and would have to start over. when it was just the frame i took that last time i guess i wasn't as worried, but now that the motor is in there i'm alittle more cautious.

i could use the enclosed trailer for more security and tie the frame down with the D-rings with the motor in the frame bolted down. it would work and i would feel better about it.
