Hello gentlemen, I have taken some photos and I’m wondering if what I am photographing is in fact the correct reservoir for the power window fluid. And if it is, can someone tell me which is the pin that you remove to take out the canister and check the fluid?
Thank you

Hello long John, thank you for the photo you supplied. It just popped up for me to see now after having sent that photo. It seems I have located the correct reservoir, but I’m still not clear on how to remove the bottom canister. Could you explain that to me ?
Also, I’m wondering if someone knows how you go about flushing the hydraulic system to get out all the old fluid that is in there? Thank you all!

You just pop off the retainer wire that goes under it. Pretty straightforward and typically requires no tools other than your hands although it might need a little pry with a large screw driver to pop it out of the groove under the reservoir.
Good to see that your 1954 still has the original aluminum head! By now many 359 engines have had them replaced with cast iron heads from other years and models.

To flush the system, put all the windows down. Put new fluid in the reservoir and disconnect the return line (hydraulic hose toward engine) Run the system one component after another. Collect the fluid from the return line and discard. The windows don't need to be run up completely. The top needs to go through a full cycle up and down. Check the fluid level during these operations and refill as needed.
I use a regular hydraulic fluid in mine, but ATF is good too.
