Heat riser?

I used to stuff a rag in one side during warm up.

Like Howard suggested: Gorilla-strength duct tape.

We are starting on the steel prototype headers this AM.

First step was to remove the PVC mockup headers.

Here are those mockups on the floor.

For my part, I'm working on modifying the flanges. No digipix yet.

P.S. At 9AM it was 90F. We quit then as the "thermal cutoff switch" kicked in. Man, I'll be glad when Summer is over!

Good news in Pahrump, NV: thunderstorms passing through with some rain.

Bad news in Pahrump: all the thunderstorms did is make it more humid (still over 100F).

Forecast weather in Pahrump: low of 72F overnight. Man, I really hope so. This hot weather is getting quite oppressive and making for a really short work day. We need to get the 2nd flange modified so it can be sent to my alternate supplier in the PM Monday (tomorrow). Hopefully, digipix of same tomorrow.

Flanges modified for alternate production

Once again a shortened work morning due to weather, but we did get both flanges modified and one sent with an original P-side exhaust manifold with generator mount to my alternate production supplier.

Here's a picture of Lance cutting one of the install slots. I don't have a big mill, so we had to do this by hand (grinder, cutter and flat file), but it turned out pretty good and the production version should be top notch:

The other modification to the flange is the notch for clearance of the oil dipstick tube. You can also see the install slot on the rearmost center exhaust port bolt hole position (first attempt, so it's a little rough).

We also got started on the steel tube prototype assembly. Here's the driver center large tube cut for length at the flange (not the downstream side) held manually in place to confirm clearance:

We had to stop here as the shop "thermal cutoff switch" went off.
