Yes, I think it goes something like this: "Cold enough to freeze the balls off of a brass monkey." Now, this saying is not what it seems to be. Does anyone know the origin and meaning of it? (o{}o)

Something to do with pyramidal-shaped stacks of cannon balls and a brass retainer or some sort, I believe.
+4 deg. F. here in NJ this AM, about as cold as I can recall it ever being in recent years.

In the "olden days", warships stacked round canon balls on a metal plate with indented spaces called a monkey,so the canon balls would not roll off. Metal would rust, so brass was used. In cold weather the brass would contract and the balls would roll off.
Hence..cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey

I remember it from a AM news type show on KDKA radio it was a comedy type news station. They also advertised a beer with the foam on the bottom which was only sold during holiday season . It was a pretty funny program as I recall.

Recalling from my college days, there was a PA brewed product, "Old Frothinslosh", advertised as the pale, stale ale with the head on the bottom. Now what all this has to do with a 1956 Patrician rehab project I don't know.

Tomorrow will mark 2 months since shoulder surgery and I have finally been released. After two months I spent a little time in a freezing garage. I am quickly becoming more frustrated as the cancer on this car is far worse than originally seen and told. After cutting back some of the outer skin, my wheel wells are bad as well. I am now really wondering if this "survivor" can be saved as is or go with plan B or C. B- I can pick up a fairly clean rear clip and clip the car, or C- found a 80% complete Patrician No rust and part out the old girl and build the other car. thoughts?
