Just updating some things here for my own reference after helping Kevin fill up his blog by asking a question there.
I bought a new fuel sending unit from Max Merritt. I had spoken with them first and new that it would be a different unit from the original. It worked perfectly in terms of the fuel gauge and is 0 to 30 ohms as it should be. However, it was 1.75 in too long. My original is 6.5in long and the new one is 8.25in. My original measurement was taken to the bottom of the float as someone had patched the intake tube with rubber tubing which made it too long. But, it likely worked at one time due to the rubber tube being able to flex. Max Merritt said that the 8.25in is what their plans show it should be. That prompted the question of whether I have the correct 20 gallon tank for a 120 or the smaller 17 gallon tank for a 115. I re-measured my tank the best that I could given the rounded corners and came up with 36x20x6.75 (4,860 cu in) which translates to 20.25 gallons. The extra 0.25 gallons is likely due to not taking the rounded corners into account. So, I believe that I do have the correct tank for the 120. Now, just waiting to see what Max Merritt finds out and get it resolved. I will say that I'm really happy with their customer service so far.

Have to say, with the fuel sending unit issue, Chris at Max Merritt has been awesome to work with.
I decided to go with the sending unit for a 115C as it seems to match up to the depth of my tank. That unit is 7in, so I may still have to shorten it just a bit. The float can be adjusted easily. I can shorten the tube easily as well if needed. I just didn’t want to get into trying to bend the tube on the 8.25 in unit. I don’t have a tube bending tool and don’t want to risk collapsing the tube. I have plenty to do while I wait for the new sending unit. I’ll be working on getting a good ground connection to the tail lights. To get them going.

This post is a little wordy
The fuel sending unit marked by Max Merritt as being for a 115C does in fact, fit my tank. I’m still not sure when or where the tank may have been replaced, but what I have works and is in great condition, so on to the next thing. We just got home from Hershey. The short summary is this: 1. We met a lot of great people and made many new friends. This alone, made the trip to Hershey well worth it. I’ll be back next year! 2. I found nearly everything on my list that I was looking for. Not everything, but close….Instrument/reading light switch, headlight socket, hand brake spring, batter trunk hinges, correct trumpets for my horns…and tonight due to Item 1, the elusive air cleaner. 3. I made contacts that will certainly be helpful for parts in the future…go back to item 1. 4. I found some great literature for the car…including a couple of items from antique stores…one in Hershey, and another great antiques store in Lancaster on our way to Philadelphia. I’ve already started the refurbishment on the horns…just about ready for primer.

I didn’t find it in Hershey, but did find it because of the network of this group and meeting people in Hershey. I was like a little kid at Christmas when the elusive air cleaner arrived. It’s in great shape and just needed a little clean up.

Little steps over the last week. Work keeps getting in the way!
I now have a functioning hand brake after getting the missing spring installed. Thanks to Flackmaster for the spring!. Now, I understand why Flackmaster responded with “you’ll know when you see it” when I asked where the top end of the spring attached. I have skinny hands, but what a pain to get that spring in place! I have also made a little more progress on the new horn trumpets. Old paint and rust removal has been completed and I have them primered. I should be able to get them completed this week.

Well, today was fairly productive.
I finally got around to swapping out my broken headlight socket with the one I got from BigKev. Thanks again, Kevin! I also finally got my tail lights and brake lights all sorted out. It was kind of a mess. I fixed the wiring, and solved the ground problem I had. I know have working tail lights and brake lights. That was the last of the electrical to get functional. Then, I tackled the re-installation of the fuel tank. That was really a two-man job, but I managed it alone after a lot of struggle…the exhaust Dad had done back in 2004 was not helpful. It took a lot of maneuvering to get the tank in around it. Next, I’ll finish my horns…

I've found a floor jack and a piece of plywood helps to tame a gas tank when working alone.
