Hi

Fortunately, none of us have to worry about being invited to show at Pebble Beach or any Concours.....well, except maybe...Owen...if they feature original cars.

But, if folks want to sink the family fortune into a collector car, I'll have some looks.....might be a dumb thing to do in general but its their (mis)fortune to spend as they see fit.

Now, back to our program in progress:

A '51 200 sedan for comparison, 36K, green, pricier than the Indiana 200:
sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/5102832223.html

A sweet '39 110 sedan, dark blue, gray interior, needs engine repainted from Ford Blue, economical daily driver:
nh.craigslist.org/cto/5112865640.html

A handsome two-tone '41 coupe, looks like a 110, someone should get this away from its unappreciative owner, who thinks it needs to be "converted into an AWESOME hot rod":
scranton.craigslist.org/cto/5090188166.html

A trio of '53's, two Cavaliers and a Mayfair:
raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/5103050258.html
portland.craigslist.org/clk/cto/5073928135.html
redding.craigslist.org/cto/5089155535.html

A '54 Cavalier, Colorado solid, blue, 91K miles:
denver.craigslist.org/cto/5109348842.html

Every Packard here guaranteed to need something corrected, money and time expended on it but that's the joy of old cars!

Steve

I hear ya loud and clear, and again part of why I started my shop. To keep costs down we became reps for Engine/transmission, and other components. I can make a 10% mark up on components and still save people over direct costs.

V-8's 352, 374 with the works, I have $1500 in the machining, Boring, honing, decking block/ Heads, re-bushing rods, Hardened seats, valve job, (porting optional), cam and crank ground with original Packard blanks. New pistons, internals etc. assembled broke in on stand out the door $3995. I have a 374 just going up on the stand and will be posting the assembly on my blog. I have a 48 and a 53 straight 8 I will be doing soon, and I will be able to lock in my pricing on them.

Paint is the highest cost, A 55-56 Patrician aprox $4k just in materials 10k painted cleared sanded out the door.

Chrome- ie. 1956's
56 Front Upper $525
56 Front Lower $475
56 Front Guards, Each $150
56 Front Upper (Clipper) $525
56 Front Lower (Clipper) $475
56 Front Guards, Each (Clipper) $150
56 Rear Center $400
56 Rear Ends, Each $250
56 Rear Guards, Each $150
56 Rear Center (Clipper) $385
56 Rear Ends, Each (Clipper) $240
56 Rear Guards, Each (Clipper) $150

I try to be fair on prices and make a living not a stealing. I love to help others out, Am I nuts????

Hi

Many Contours and V8's to pick up before they're gone:

'53 Clippers:
Two Deluxes, both look quite good:
phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/5076507429.html
Two-tone green, stick with OD:
losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/5082452794.html

A Special: stick, bit pricy with painted chrome:
fredericksburg.craigslist.org/cto/5118614165.html

A '54 Clipper, owner seems confused as to make and model year, cheap enough:
losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/5071884469.html

An instant Packard project collection, eleven total, someone needs to talk sense to owner about overall value, interesting '54 Patrician:

I spotted that "Packard collection". the seller and I have exchanged emails about other cars. He is a typical Craigs Lister. Claims buyers are flocking to his cars and trucks and paying whatever he is asking.

Meanwhile, many of his cars are in long grasses looking like a swampy humid pasture right now.

I am amazed that these cars and all the other cars he has listed on ebay are there in this day and age. Someone accumulated quite a collection. He has a 49 Frazer, several rare International trucks and more.

Now all of a sudden, they go on CL? If he priced all of them at $1000 to $1500 he would pocket $40,000 and find several deserving cars new homes. Of those, a few would be restored and returned to the gene pool. Unfortunately, some people get greedy.

I restore the car, and the car restores me.

Here's a nice 51 200 2door. Asking less than $5k! You can't even get a decent paint job for that kinda money, let alone a nice car ready to take to local shows.

Nice catch JD but this is still a nice consideration. BDC is correct that this car is a great bargain. It's rare, but other then being a model that Packard enthusiasts would appreciate it's not considered in demand.

I like it because I am familiar with the Buick and Pontiac versions of this "business coupe" model.

So many Packard and other cars are way beyond my budget but this one isn't. Is it me or do the colors further sell this car? The conservative colors are nice on this car.
